Spencer, Wagner, Kilfoyl, Fritz, Augusto selected MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Players of Week

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Yanique Spencer (Baldwin [N.Y] HS), Lexi Wagner (Seton LaSalle [Pittsburgh, Pa.], Alexis Kilfoyl (Land O’ Lakes [Fla.] HS), Kendall Fritz (Wakeland [Frisco, Texas]) HS) and Madie Augusto (St. Ignatius [San Francisco, Calif.] HS) were selected MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Players of the Week for games played the week of March 19-25.

East Region
Spencer was 5-for-5 with three doubles, two RBI and four runs scored against Great Neck South. She also picked up the win in relief, tossing two innings of shutout ball with six strikeouts and a walk.

North Region
Wagner hit .900 (9-for-10) with three triples, three home runs, 10 RBI and six runs scored. She slugged 2.400 and recorded a .909 on-base percentage. Wagner was a perfect 3-for-3 with a grand slam, five RBI and three runs in a win over Brownsville. She tripled twice, homered, knocked in four and scored three more times against Haddon Heights. She added a triple, long ball and RBI in the season opener versus Whitehall.

South Region
Kilfoyl was dominant in the circle for Land O’ Lakes last week, posting a 4-0 mark with three shutouts, including a no-hitter, and 44 strikeouts over 28 innings of work. She did not allow an earned run and surrendered just seven hits. The no-hitter came on March 23 against Freedom. Kilfolyl struck out 13 and walked two in a 6-0 victory. She followed that with a one-hit complete-game win over East Lake in which she fanned 11 and issued one free pass. She also added three-hit shutouts against Springstead and Mitchell.

South Central Region
Fritz, a senior, twirled two no-hitters to help Wakefield improve to 13-3 on the season. She recorded all 15 outs via strikeouts in a five-inning win against Heritage. In her first start of the week, she no hit Independence in a 7-1 victory. Against the Knights, Fritz fanned 11, walked four and allowed an earned run.

West Region
Augusto tossed three shutouts and struck out 36 batters as she posted a 3-0 mark for St. Ignatius last week. The senior hurler fanned a season-high 14 and allowed just two hits in a 4-0 victory over Presentation. She struck out 12, walked two and surrendered four hits in a 3-0 triumph against San Mateo. Augusto added 10 more punchouts in a one-hit win (five innings) over Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep. For the week, she scattered seven hits and walked two over 19 innings of work. Augusto also contributed at the plate with two hits against San Mateo and two RBI versus Sacred Heart.
