Chicago, Ill.- A quality first half of basketball just wasn’t enough for the Titans on Saturday afternoon, as IUSB would fall to the Cougars of St. Xavier University. The Titans would hang tough with the #22 ranked Cougars before finally falling by a score of 74-54.

The Titans were led in scoring by Kyleigh Kubik (JR/LaPorte, Indiana) who tallied 12 points, followed by Rachael Robards (FR/St. John, Indiana) who tacked on 11 points of her own. Taitlyn Trenshaw (SO/Nappanee, Indiana) would add 9 points on the afternoon, while also pulling down a team high 12 rebounds. Erin Guzicki (SR/Mishawaka, Indiana) would add 8 points for the Titans.

St. Xavier would lead for much of the first quarter, before Guzicki knocked down a jumper to put IUSB up by one with 3:17 on the clock. The lead was short lived as SXU would put in a layup to regain the lead. The Titans would continue to fight, and a Robards three pointer was good with 35 seconds remaining in the quarter to tie up the Titans and Cougars. The two teams would enter the second quarter tied at 17.

SXU would lead by as many as 8 points in the second quarter before the Titans were able to tie the game up once again on a Trenshaw free throw with 2:26 left in the quarter. IUSB managed to keep the game tight, and the Cougars would take a four point lead into halftime

The second half was all SXU, as they would lead by as many as 13 points in the third quarter before heading into the final 10 minutes leading 58-48. A scoring drought in the fourth quarter led to the Cougars running away with a 20 point win over the Titans.

The Titans are now 6-5 on the season and 3-2 in conference play.

The Titans will take on (RV) Indiana University Northwest on Wednesday, December 5th in Gary, Ind. Tip off is set for 8:00 PM ET.
