Sugg and Godfrey  named All-American to end their careers

WINONA LAKE, Ind. – Brooke Sugg concluded her sterling career for Grace’s women’s basketball team in a fitting way — as an All-American.

Sugg was named Second Team All-American by the NCCAA after leading the Lady Lancers to 18 wins. Grace won two games at NCCAA Nationals to finish third place in the tournament, tied for the best finish by the Lady Lancers.

She scored 557 points this season, fifth-most in program history, for an average of 16.4 points per game. Her 96 made 3-pointers broke her own program record from a year ago, and she added 2.7 assists, 2.3 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game.

Sugg graduates with 1,392 career points to rank No. 6 all-time for Grace.

Sugg, along with Pam Miller, Lexi Minix, Rachel Montgomery and Brooke Treadway, were all named Scholar-Athletes by the NAIA for maintaining a GPA of at least 3.5.

Additionally, Kyannah Stull was named to the NCCAA All-Tournament Team for her play during the national tournament.

Two Lancers pick up All-American honors

WINONA LAKE, Ind. – Grace’s men’s basketball team was honored at the national level to wrap up a memorable 2018-19 season.

Logan Godfrey was recognized as a Third Team All-American by the NCCAA as well as honorable mention All-American by the NAIA. Haden Deaton was named to the NCCAA All-Tournament Team.

On the academic side, Grace had even more honors. Charlie Warner and Godfrey were both named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, and Warner advanced to be named CoSIDA Second Team Academic All-America. The CoSIDA teams recognize student-athletes for academic and athletic achievements.

Godfrey and Warner joined David Holden, Braxton Linville, Jaret Sons and Tim Swanson as Scholar-Athletes.

The Lancers finished fifth in the NCCAA National Championships this season. Longtime head coach Jim Kessler announced his retirement this year, officially transitioning the team to new head coach Scott Moore going forward.
