Taylor Cruises to 40-Point Win over Moody Bible

 

UPLAND, Ind. – Taylor placed 13 players in the scoring column, including five in double figures while reaching the century mark for the third time in six games with a 105-65 win over Moody Bible on Paul Patterson Court Wednesday night.

 

The Trojans netted the first nine points of the game and bolted to a 17-4 lead, before using a 28-4 stretch over the final 7:28 of the half to put the game away. TU took a 58-28 lead to the break and led by at least 20 points over the game’s final 22:22 en route to the 40-point win.

 

TU shot 54.7 percent from the field, knocked down 13 triples and shot 83.3 percent from the charity stipe in the game, held a 44-28 edge on the glass and limited the Archers (0-3) to 36.7 percent from the floor.

 

Taylor pushed the tempo throughout and used 15 steals to post 37 points in transition, while assisting on 23-of-41 buckets. TU also held a 50-22 advantage in points in the paint and outscored MBI by a 52-11 gap off the bench.

 

Mason Degenkolb led the way, pouring in 22 first-half points and ending with a game-high 24 points on eight-of-11 shooting and a three-of-four effort from beyond the arc. Degenkolb also added seven rebounds for a new career-high.

 

Ryan Robinson continued his strong play with 14 points and eight assists, while Vincent Miranda scored a career-best 14 points. Jake Heggeland finished with 12 points, seven boards and two blocks, with Evan Crowe also cracking double figures with 10 points and two steals.

 

Tim Fleming picked up four steals to go with five points, while Pat McNamara added four points and three assists, Jordan Foster scored five points and Graham Ortmann finished with five points and two assists.

 

No. 15 Taylor (6-0) will return to action on Friday for a 7:00 pm tip against No. 9 IU-East (6-1) in a top-15 showdown inside Odle Arena.
