Â
GOSHEN, Ind. – Taylor fell, 72-65, on the road against Goshen in Crossroads League action on Thursday night.Â
Â
The Trojans were overpowered on the boards, with Goshen grabbing 43 compared to 32 for TU, despite a clear height advantage for Taylor.Â
Â
A three-pointer by Kaden Fuhrmann gave Taylor a 3-2 lead, which they extended to 5-2 when Grant Niehaus made a bucket before seeing the Maple Leafs score the 12 points to take the lead and never relinquish it.Â
Â
TU continually cut the lead to two but could get no closer during the first half, which saw Goshen (3-16, 1-10 CL) stretch the lead to six at the break.Â
Â
The Trojans scored seven of the first nine points after halftime, capped by a Jason Hubbard basket on a fast break to pull within one of Goshen.Â
Â
Taylor kept it close throughout, never trailing by more than seven the rest of the half, but the Maple Leafs responded every time TU looked to have gained momentum.Â
Â
A Fuhrmann triple with 90 seconds remaining cut the lead to three, but a three by Goshen off of an offensive rebound sealed the game for the home squad.Â
Â
