Taylor Splits Doubleheader with Indiana Tech

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Taylor (9-4, 1-0 CL) traveled to Fort Wayne to take on the Warriors in the grand opening of Indiana Tech’s new stadium. TU split the doubleheader.

The Trojans were hoping to spoil the day’s festivities by getting a win under their belts.

After falling to the Warriors in the first game, 3-2, the Trojans won 9-3.

Quick cracks of the bat gave the Trojans an early, 3-0 advantage in the first inning of the second game.

Courtney Moriarty brought in two runs with her triple. With stellar pitching from both Lauren Kanai and Darby Shaw, Taylor held Indiana Tech scoreless up until the bottom of the fourth inning.

Maddi Evans and Erin Cozad finished with two RBIs in the game. Moriarty led the team with three RBIs. Cozad finished game two with a batting average of .750 on four at-bats.

In game one, the Warriors (6-13) started out fast on offense, scoring two runs though out the first three innings. Taylor found themselves on the scoreboard in the top of the fourth inning, after Kanai homered to right field. Moriarty would score the last run of the game for the Trojans after Taylor Wilson hit a double.

Out of seven trips to the plate, Moriarty had five hits on the day.

Taylor will play at Indiana Wesleyan (18-5, 3-0 CL) on March 22 with game one starting at 4:00 pm.
