The Centier Bank Performers of the Week are Michigan City senior running back Lyric McFarrin and Mishawaka senior running back Chris Harness.
In Friday’s Class 5A regional final against Concord at Ames Field, the 5-foot-8, 180-pound McFarrin had 19 carries for 221 yards and five touchdowns to lead the No. 3 Wolves to a 62-21 triumph and their second consecutive regional crowns. Michigan City (10-2) travels to top-ranked New Palestine (12-0) Saturday for the northern semistate championship.
In Friday’s Class 4A regional finale against Lowell at Steele Stadium, the 5-foot-7, 175-pound Harness ran 32 times for 225 yards with three touchdowns, helping the No. 2 Cavemen to a 28-14 victory and their first regional championship since 2012. Mishawaka (12-1) hosts No. 6 Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger (12-1) Friday in the northern semistate final.
The Centier Bank Performer of the Week is open to any male-female student athlete who participates in any IHSAA sanctioned sport and whose school is in the Centier Bank geographic area.
