GRAPEVINE, Texas – The College Football Playoff Selection Committee today announced the first installment of its top 25 rankings of the season.
The selection committee will prepare five more rankings, including the final set on Selection Day, Sunday, December 3. The top four teams in the final rankings will play in the Playoff Semifinals on January 1, 2018, at the Rose Bowl Game presented by Northwestern Mutual and the Allstate Sugar Bowl.
“The committee members spent a lot of time preparing for today by watching games and studying detailed information,” said selection committee chairman Kirby Hocutt. “I am grateful for how seriously they take their mission. There are three new members this year and they all hit the ground running.”
The selection committee will continue to evaluate teams and will meet in person the remainder of the season to review game action and issue rankings each week.
