Fire Wrestling Honored by NWCA for Academic Performance

MANHEIM, Pa.—The Southeastern University wrestling team was honored by the National Wrestling Coaches Association for their excellence in academics.

The Fire finished 12th in the 2019 NWCA NAIA Scholar All-American Top 15, posting a 3.146 GPA among their starting lineup.

Among the 54 Scholar All-Americans, four wrestlers from Southeastern qualified. Senior Luis Peguero, juniors Ethan Owen and Dylan Chatterton, along with sophomore Jake Watters were selected.

The four individual Scholar All-Americans was tied for the third-most nationally.

Southeastern finished 19th at the NAIA National Championship as a team with two podium finishes among its seven national qualifiers.
