NAPPANEE, Ind.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (9-21, 3-3 CCAC) swept their doubleheader over the Calumet College of Saint Joseph Crimson Wave (7-20, 0-2 CCAC) winning game one 6-0 before taking game two by a final score of 2-0.
Game 1
The Titans took the lead in game one when designated player Reece Douglass hit an RBI single to score Summer Johnson and give the Titans a 1-0 lead.
IU South Bend extended their lead in the fourth inning when second baseman Olivia Zarantonello grounded out to score Jade Baker.
The Titans broke the game open in the bottom of the sixth when catcher Maddie Leisher’s 3 RBI double cleared the bases and extended the IUSB lead to 5-0.
IU South Bend tacked on one more insurance run in the sixth on an Abigail Yarnell sacrifice fly to help lead the Titans to a 6-0 victory in game one.
Freshman pitcher Savannah Hamilton pitched her second straight shutout in as many days, throwing seven complete innings while allowing just two hits and striking out five.
Game 2
IU South Bend gained the lead in the third again in game two on one of Maddie Leisher’s three doubles on the day to take a 1-0 lead.
Pitcher Abigail Yarnell extended the Titans lead to 2-0 in the top of the fifth on a sacrifice fly that scored Jade Baker.
The Titans pitched their second shutout of the day in game two thanks to seven scoreless innings from right handed pitcher Abigail Yarnell as she allowed just six hits and struck out four.
The Indiana University South Bend Titans return to action on Wednesday, April 10th, when they host Judson University at 3:00 PM ET.
