MARION, Ind. – Indiana Wesleyan University baseball learned their NAIA National Championship Opening Round bracket on Thursday when the national office revealed the qualifiers and brackets on their selection show.
The Wildcats were chosen to play in the Lawrenceville Bracket which is hosted by Georgia Gwinnett in Lawrenceville, Georgia. It is one of nine five-team Opening Round brackets across the country. The nine winners plus host Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) advance to the NAIA World Series in Lewiston, Idaho. Opening Round tournaments are double elimination.
Indiana Wesleyan is the four-seed in the bracket and opens vs. No. 5 Point (Ga.) on Monday, May 14. The winner of the game plays No. 1-seed and host Georgia Gwinnett later in the day. No. 2 Lyon (Ark.) and No. 3 Keiser (Fla.) round out the opening round bracket in Lawrenceville.
Georgia Gwinnett, Keiser, and Lyon have all won one NAIA National Championship. In the final NAIA Top-25 Coaches’ Poll, Georgia Gwinnett is ranked No. 2, Lyon is No. 13, and Keiser is No. 15.
