Purdue Northwest Volleyball Falls to Saginaw Valley (Mich.), 3-0
WESTVILLE, Ind. – The Purdue University Northwest volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Saginaw Valley State University (Mich.) Friday night, with scores of 28-26, 25-21 & 25-22 in H.D. Kesling Gymnasium at the James B. Dworkin Student Services and Activities Complex in Westville, Ind. The Pride were led by senior Gabrielle Martin (DeMotte, Ind./Kankakee Valley) who recorded a team-high nine kills and a .250 attack percentage.

Carissa Jones (Whiting, Ind./Bishop Noll) recorded six kills and Brooke Ahrens (Covington, Ind./Covington) tallied a team-best 24 assists and a trio of service aces.
The Black and Gold took an 11-9 lead early on in the opening set, before the Cardinals bounced back to take an 18-14 advantage.

Eudora Negri (Munster, Ind./Munster)Â registered a pair of aces later in the set to give the Pride a 22-20 lead, but SVSU eventually evened the set at 25-25, before winning a thrilling opening set, 28-26.

After PNW trailed 14-10 midway through Set 2, the Black and Gold rattled off four straight points to even the score at 14-14. The Cardinals regained the lead and eventually took the second set, 25-21.

SVSU went on to win the final set, 25-22, en route to a three-set victory thanks to 15 kills from Sarah Tabit.

The Pride return to action on Saturday, October 7, when they face off with Lake Superior State University (Mich.) in a GLIAC contest starting at 2:00 pm (CT) at the Fitness and Recreation Center in Hammond, Ind.
