Purdue Northwest’s Pagan Claims GLIAC Softball Player of the Week
Hammond, Ind. – Senior Holly Pagan (Bartlett, Ill./Bartlett) on the Purdue Northwest softball team was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Softball Player of the Week when the conference office released the honor Monday afternoon. Over six games last week, Pagan was an offensive force for the Pride hitting .438 (7-for-16) with two doubles, three home runs, five runs scored and nine RBI. She also recorded an impressive slugging percentage of 1.125 over the stretch.
Pagan helped lead PNW to a 4-2 record last week as the team hosted three conference doubleheaders against Ashland (Ohio), Tiffin (Ohio) and Wayne State (Mich.). Pagan has had a solid season thus far ranking among the Pride leaders in several offensive categories, including slugging percentage (.531), RBI (22), doubles (8), home runs (5), total bases (52) and on base percentage (.360).
“Holly has put in so much hard work this year and I love seeing players rewarded for their efforts with awards like this one,” said PNW softball coach Niki Stansell. “She had a great week for our team and was a big factor in our success last week. With Kyleigh (Payne) winning this same award a few weeks ago, it is awesome to see two of our seniors being recognized for their amazing contributions.”
Purdue Northwest (22-19 overall/12-12 GLIAC) is playing a road doubleheader today against Saginaw Valley State University (Mich.). The first game of the pair is scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. CT start at the SVSU Softball Complex in University Center, Mich.
