Rascoe, Spearman Lead Ancilla over Grand Rapids

Plymouth – Ancilla almost led from start to finish, but it took until the fourth quarter before they could build a big advantage. The Lady Chargers (10-9, 4-4 MCCAA) beat Grand Rapids (12-7, 3-5 MCCAA) 83-70 Monday in a Michigan Community College Athletic Association game at the LifePlex in Plymouth.

LaRae Rascoe led Ancilla with a game-high 27 points and she also grabbed a team-high 12 rebounds and had five assists. Cierra Spearman tallied 17 points, with Talia Bee tossing in 13. Emily Richard had nine rebounds and Emily Jakes pulled down eight caroms.

Camryn Kopka set a new record for three-pointers made in a season when she hit her 60th of the season in the first quarter. Two plays later she sprained her ankle and sat the rest of the game. The record of 59 had been held by Hope Wagner from the 2013-14 season.

The Lady Chargers travel to conference leader Muskegon on Wednesday for a 5:30 p.m. start.
