South Bend, Ind.- The IUSB women’s basketball team fell to 1-3 on the season, in a tight match up with (RV) Indiana University Northwest on Tuesday night. In what would prove to be a chess match throughout the entire evening, the Titans ultimately fell by a score of 53-56.

The Titans came out strong as Kylie Fehrman (SO/Griffith, Indiana) connected on two 3 point field goals to give IUSB the early 6-0 lead. The Titans would sustain their lead and finish the quarter ahead of the visiting Redhawks 18-15.

In the second quarter, Erin Guzicki (SR/Mishawaka, Indiana) would come off the bench to drain a three pointer and Kyleigh Kubik (JR/LaPorte, Indiana) would drill a three with 7:50 remaining in the quarter to give the Titans their largest lead of night. Despite the early quarter 9 point lead, the Redhawks would come storming back to narrow the margin. The Titans would head into halftime with just a three point lead, 29-26.

The two teams would prove even in the third quarter, as it quickly became a back and forth battle. The quarter would see four ties and three lead changes. A Taitlyn Trenshaw (SO/Nappanee, Indiana) three was good with 29 seconds remaining in the quarter to knot up the score, 41-41, heading into the final 10 minutes.

The Titans would hang tough in the fourth quarter pulling within one point with just 1:18 remaining, as Kubik hit three free throws. That would be as close at the Titans would come in the final minute, losing a heartbreaker 56-53.

The Titans were led by Kylie Fehrman with 14 points, Taitlyn Trenshaw and Kyleigh Kubik would each chip in 10 apiece. Courtney Haynes(SO/Marion, Indiana) would lead the team with 11 rebounds. Rachael Robards (FR/St. John, Indiana) would come off the bench to contribute 7 points and 7 rebounds.

The Titans will continue their busy week as they host Great Lakes Christian College on Thursday, November 8th. Tip off is set for 5:30 PM ET in the Student Activities Center.
