Senerchia, Coffel, Cochran, Fouts, Fuentes selected 2018 MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Players of the Week

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Sydney Senerchia of North Branford (Conn.), Erin Coffel of Bremen (Ind.), Courtney Cochran of Auburn (Riner, Va.), Montana Fouts of East Carter (Grayson, Ky.) and Haley Fuentes of Moreau Catholic (Hayward, Calif.) were selected MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Players of the Week for games played the week of May 28-June 3.

East Region
Senerchia tossed a pair of two-hit shutouts in which she struck out 30 and walked just two batters. In a 6-0 win over Woodland Regional, she fanned 13 and walked one. A day later, Senerchia struck out 17 and walked one in a 1-0 eight-inning victory against Ellington.

North Region
Coffel launched five home runs and drove in 13 to lead Bremen to a 3-0 week. She hit .700 (7-for-10), scored 12 runs and added a double for a 2.300 slugging percentage. Coffel, a sophomore, homered twice, drove in seven and scored five times against South Adams. She left the yard two more times with five RBI and four runs versus Andrean. Coffel capped off a tremendous week by going 3-foe-3 with a double, long ball, four runs scored and a RBI in a 7-0 win over Tipton.

South Region
Cochran led undefeated Auburn to three wins last week, including a 3-2 victory over McCluer in the Region 1C championship game. She opened the week by going 6-for-6 with a double, five RBI and five runs scored against Eastern Montgomery. She added another double with three hits and three RBI versus Craig County. In win over McCluer, Cochran was 1-for-3 with a double.

South Central Region
Fouts collected three more wins with 34 strikeouts and also homered four times for East Carter. She was 3-0 with a 0.39 ERA and allowed just four hits over 18 innings of work. At the plate, Fouts was 6-for-7 (.857) with nine RBI, seven runs scored, a 2.571 slugging percentage and .923 on-base percentage. She tossed a 16-strikeout perfect game in a six-inning win over Ashland Blazer. Fouts added a two-hit shutout, while going 3-for-3 with two home runs and three RBI against Raceland. The senior hurler fanned 12 batters and allowed two hits, while clubbing two homers and driving in six versus Boyd County.

West Region
Fuentes hit .750 (6-for-8) with two doubles, a triple and eight RBI helping the Mariners to a North Coast Section Division III Softball Championship. In the title game against Marin Catholic, she was 4-for-4 with both doubles, four RBI and a run scored. Against Terr Linda, Fuentes tripled and drove in four runs.
