SEU Women’s Golf 19th after First Day at Nationals

OKLAHOMA CITY—The Fire women’s golf team is in a tie for 19th after the first 18 holes at the NAIA National Championship at Lincoln Park Golf Club.

Southeastern posted a team score of 316 in the first round. Oklahoma City currently leads with a team score of 287.

Ana Uribe had the best first round, carding a five-over 77, playing the second nine at two-over. The junior is currently tied for 53rd.

Ashlynn Joyner started strong, carding two birdies on the back nine which the team started with, and made the turn at one-over. Joyner finished the day with a 79 and is tied for 78th. Valentina Espinosa also carded a 79, posting seven pars on the front nine.

Brooke Wetzel played the front nine at just two over and finished with an 81. Brianna Farrell rounded out the roster with an 83.

The second round begins Wednesday afternoon for SEU.
