SEU Wrestling Bumps up to Eighth

KANSAS CITY, Mo.—The Fire wrestling team moved up another spot in the latest NAIA Wrestling Coaches’ Top 20 Poll.

Southeastern is now ranked eighth, marking its second ever and second straight Top 10 ranking. The Fire picked up 80 points in the poll, and are 19 behind conference foe Life, which will come to The Fire Pit on January 13 to participate in the Fire Duals. SEU will also see third-ranked Indiana Tech that day.

Individually, nine wrestlers appear in the Top 20 of their respective weight class. Olson Delisca is the highest ranked individual, checking in at sixth in the 125-pound poll. The two-time national qualifier is 7-1 on the season. Ethan Owen is seventh in the 133-pound rankings, boasting a record of 7-3 on the year. Dylan Chatterton is the third Top 10 individual the Fire have, ranked ninth at 149 pounds. Chatterton is 9-2 on the year, which included a 3-0 showing during the Desert Duals.

At 197, Josiah Gittman is ranked 10th, holding a 9-3 record on the year. The Fire have two ranked individuals at 184 with Chris Williams 13th and Jason Davis 18th. Williams is 9-3 and Davis 7-3.

Evyn Insalaco is tied for the team lead in total wins this year with 12, and is ranked 13th at 157. Angel del Cueto is also 13th in the 165-pound rankings, and has a record of 11-5.

At 174, Nathan Ferkovich is ranked 20th with a record of 7-8.

The Fire return to the mats on Saturday to take on NCAA Division III squads Huntingdon and Greensboro.
