LEBANON, Tenn.—Three of Southeastern’s ranked wrestlers got the Fire off to a 13-0 lead through four matches en route to a 28-10 victory at Cumberland University.
Sixth-ranked Ethan Owen picked up bonus points in the first match of the day, winning by major decision at 141 by the count of 16-6. No. 13 Jake Watters and No. 9 Dylan Chatterton both picked up decisions at 149 and 157, respectively, then Stephen Kelle improved to 3-4 on the season with a 12-5 win at 165.
At 197, Luis Peguero scored a first period fall to put the Fire up 19-7 with three matches left. Jaaziel Santana’s technical fall at 125 secured the match, and was followed by more bonus points from Xavier Williamson, which won by major decision.
The 10th dual meet win has already matched last year’s total, and the Fire are two wins away from matching the program record.
Southeastern will host its final home meet of the season on Saturday against Life University.
