Simpson Qualifies for USATF U20 Outdoor Championships

LAKELAND, Fla.—Southeastern University freshman Namiah Simpson hit the USA Track and Field U20 Outdoor Championship qualifiying standard during the Hurricane Alumni Invitational in Coral Gables on Saturday.

With her run of 1:01.11 in the Women’s 400 Meter Hurdles, Simpson has qualified to run in the championships in Miramar, Fla. June 21-23.

Simpson currently holds the second-fastest time in the NAIA in the event, and has also qualified for the NAIA Outdoor Nationals in the 200 Meters, 400 Meters, the 4×100 relay, as well as the 400 Hurdles.

The U20 Championships will serve as the selection event for the 2019 Pan American U20 Athletics Championships to be held in San Jose, Costa Rica, July 19-21. The two highest placers in each event will be named to the U.S. Team.
