PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla.—Grouped with the top two teams in the nation, the Fire women’s golf team was going to need to compete at a high level to keep pace with the leaders during the second round of The Sun Conference Championship.

The Fire did just that.

SEU matched the program record for the best 18-hole team score with a 306, and moved to within 11 shots of second-place and second-ranked SCAD Savannah. The 306 was the second-best round of any team on the second day, behind top-ranked and first-place Keiser with a 298.

Junior Ana Uribe is tied for fifth through 36 holes, and made the turn at 1-under today. She finished her second round with a 4-over 76 for the second day in a row.

Ashlynn Joyner and Valentina Espinosa also carded 76s in Round 2. Joyner is currently tied for 13th, and made the turn at even on Monday. Espinosa shaved five shots off her Round 1 score and also made the turn at even in Round 2.

Brianna Farrell cut four shots off her first round score, signing for a 78 in Round 2, picking up a birdie on the 15th and recording 10 pars. She is currently tied for 18th.

Brooke Wetzel rounded out the roster with a score of 86 and is tied for 27th.
