LAKELAND, Fla.—For the second year in a row, the Fire softball team was picked to win The Sun Conference Championship.

Southeastern picked up five of the nine first-place votes, with coaches unable to vote for their own team. Finishing second was Thomas University, nine points behind SEU, and recipient of three first-place votes.

In 2017, the Fire went 43-17 and were 16-5 in league play. It was the third-straight year they advanced to the NAIA National Championship Opening Round.

The 2018 season begins on February 2 in Jacksonville against Edward Waters College.
