Teevans Records Hat Trick in Shutout Victory

UPLAND, Ind. – Freshman Erin Teevans recorded a hat-trick in a 5-0 blowout win at Cincinnati Christian on Saturday.

Teevans tallied her first-career goal for Taylor (1-0-1) and helped the squad capture its first victory of 2018 and 200th-career win for the TU women’s soccer program overall. Teevans added an assist to her impressive performance and finished with 10 points.

Teevans tallied two of her goals in the first 25 minutes of action and added another in the first six minutes of the second period.

Bailey Zehr had a hat trick of her own for the Purple and Gold, as she dished out three assists in the contest for three points. Laura Kladde helped the cause by assisting on a netter as well.

Senior Danielle Toren and Rachel German tallied goals in the match and their first ones of the season for TU.

The Taylor offense took 30 shots at the Eagles (0-2-0) net in the match and had 22 on goal. This is the most shot attempts since the team had 33 against Goshen on Oct. 18, 2017.

Zehr lead the offense with six shots and had four on goal. Teevans attempted five shots and had five on goal and Danielle Toren had three shots. Coming off the bench, German and Hannah Davis had three shots and Maddi Guillaume had two.

Cincinnati Christian tallied four shots and had four on goal. The Eagles attempted their first shot in the 24th minute.

Megan Williams and Lauren Engelkes split time in goal for the Trojans once more. Both goalies saved two kicks from hitting the netting to protect the shutout.

TU returns home and hosts RV Olivet Nazarene on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
