Richter Named National Player of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo.—Southeastern University senior guard Ana Richter has the attention of The Sun Conference, winning three consecutive player of the week honors.

Now, she has the attention of the NAIA.

Richter was named the NAIA Division II Women’s Basketball National Player of the Week, the first such honor given out during the 2017-18 season.

The Oxford, Ohio native picked up her fifth and sixth consecutive 20-point efforts during the NAIA Division II Showcase in Kingsport, Tenn. over the weekend. She scored 29 points, shooting 75% from the field against West Virginia Tech, then, came two assist shy of a triple-double against No. 13 IU East with 24 points, 11 rebounds, and eight assists.

Currently, Richter is second in NAIA Division II in total points with 204, and is third in field goal percentage at 67.5%. She’s averaging 22.7 points per game, good for fifth in NAIA Division II.

This is the third SEU student-athlete to win an NAIA weekly award; the most in a single season in department history.

The Fire return to action on Thursday in North Miami against Johnson & Wales.
