DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.—The men’s tennis team fell to the Embry-Riddle University Eagles in their second match of the season by a score of 9-0.

In doubles competition, the Fire put up a fight by earning wins in four games, led by the duo of Felipe Barbosa and Thomas Ortega, who picked up victories in two games. However, Southeastern was ultimately defeated in each of the doubles matches.

Lucca Marcheschi, the Fire’s number one player, captained the effort in the singles matches. Marcheschi won three games, but his strong effort against Juan Ortiz Couder was not enough, as Southeastern dropped the singles matches as well.

The tennis team will be back in action when they play Gustavus Adolphus College at the Edgewood Tennis Complex on February 7th. Matches are scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m.
